To be honest, tablets are not so popular devices at this moment. People prefer to buy a smartphone or a phablet. Also we have modern notebooks which does not weigh much. Therefore, I am not surprised that Dell has announced that they will not produce new Android tablets any longer. They prefer to invest into 2-in-1 devices with Windows operating system.
Of course, the company will provide support for already available devices, but they will not prepare any update. This decision was caused by very low sale result of Dell’s Android tablets. This market is supersaturated and we have a lot of manufactures which sell Android devices, e.g. Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony and even Xiaomi from China. Dell is recognized manufacturer of computers and laptops, not mobile devices. They also cooperate a lot with Microsoft.
Dell is going to focus on their own Windows based hybrid 2-in-1 devices.
